The Return of Beta Omicron…Like A Phoenix (27) Out the Ashes

The Return of Beta Omicron…Like A Phoenix (27) Out the Ashes

After a highly anticipated return to the yard, the Beta Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated has returned to Tennessee State University’s campus. On March 26, 2017, 27 young men crossed as Phoenix 27 in Kean Hall during their neophyte presentation.

The air was noticeably laced with the excitement of the crowd, filling the venue with cheers and eager screams. The return of Alpha Phi Alpha was surrounded by high expectancies. Their hiatus only served to raise the bar for their return back to campus, which according to the screams of the spectators, were properly met and possibly excelled.

When asked what the feeling was like in that moment and what they gained, Blake Hamilton, a junior biology major, said, “It felt like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders and I stepped into a new chapter in my life. I gained a wealth of knowledge and many brothers. I really appreciate the process.”

“It’s an unreal feeling,” said Anthony Moreland, also a junior biology major, “I’ve wanted to do this for so long and it finally happened. It didn’t hit me until the probate show that I actually did it. I learned a lot about my brothers and myself during it all.”

The last Alpha line to cross on the campus of Tennessee State University before Phoenix 27 was in 2011.
